This mask is unusual because only a few of the features are distorted. The nose in particular is life-like. The ears are very small and the tongue is very large. The mask bears clan designs done with paints made from natural pigments. Cowry shell eyes. A tambuan mask is attached to a 'mwei' dance costume which is a conical cane basketry framework, usually covered with vegetation and worn during traditional ceremonies.
