A VERY UNIQUE TABLE THAT CAN ALSO BE DISPLAYED ON THE WALL.
A fine piece of Solomon Island Rosewood (Pterocarpus indicus) with lovely swirling streaks in the grain. The wide rim is embellished with Mother of Pearl shell inlay.
The centerpiece is a circling tiger shark (Galeocerdo cuvier), very lifelike, appearing ready to strike. The row of hand-carved teeth represents the many rows of teeth that sharks have.
For the mother of pearl inlay, the artist cuts a piece of shell to fit the space, then cuts it into tiny pieces, files each one to create the pattern, and then puts each individual piece in place using custom putty.
